Danigala, also known as Alien Rock or Kandegama Rock, is a 280m (919 ft) high circular mountain located near Aralaganwila in Sri Lanka’s Polonnaruwa district. Its unique circular shape, when viewed from above, resembles a landing pad for spacecraft, earning it the “Alien Rock” nickname. This reputation is enhanced by local reports of strange lights in the sky and burned soil at the summit.
The mountain offers a spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape, including neighboring peaks like Pamburugala, Amunugala, Hikkagala, and Henanigala. Often shrouded in fog, the area’s natural beauty remains relatively hidden from mainstream tourism despite its striking appearance.
