As reported by Hindustan Times, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s decision to waive visa fees and reintroduce the online application procedure addresses the challenges foreigners previously faced in obtaining entry permits. This move is expected to provide a significant boost to Sri Lanka’s economy, particularly its tourism industry, which has been struggling since 2022.
Starting October 1, 2024, citizens of over 35 countries, including India, will enjoy visa-free entry for stays of up to six months. This simplified process further enhances Sri Lanka’s appeal as a tourist destination.
